Audio problem

I have already had a discussion on this awhile back but my headunit makes a static noise throught the speakers when the volume is all the way down.

i had a noise through my subs but found out how that was messed up.

i guess my question is, is there somethin to the factory amp thats messed up with my aftermarket headunit.

reading that you have subs in the back, i'm inferring that you have an aftermarket amp. which means a remote wire and the rca's going back from the head unit. make sure the rca's are running down the opposite side of the car than the power wire to the amp. if they aren't....make them.

the reason its doing that is because you are over driving the stock amp with the high level output of a aftermarket radio. The only real way to fix this is to splice rcas or find the connectors that have a rca connector on one end and speaker wires on the other (mtx offeres them with their jackhammer amps... not sure if they sell separately) so instead of using the amp in the aftermarket radio it uses the low level signal from the rca output from the deck (you would need 2+ preouts on the aftermarket radio thou)

If you have aftermarket speakers as well you can bypass the stock amp and run them off the HU which would be somewhat better then messing with the rca nonsesne like above. You cant do this with the stock speakers due to the fact they are 2 ohm and the front tweeters are actively crossed over by the amp not passively with an inline capacitor

there are speakers that are aftermarket in the rear deck. would running a line out converter for my rcas resolves the sub thumping issue i dont care so much about static. and mark i checked that the cords were on diff sides already

oh i didnt see sub thumping... but above is about static

as far as the sub thumping goes you need to make sure the remote for the amp is hooked up to the deck. what kind of amp and what kind of radio is it btw?

ya that should be it. neither the kenwood radio or kicker amp have any weird quirks that would do that

ya thats not a good ground. if you have enough wire just run it to the battery or the stock battery ground.

i think theres only a foot or two of wire. my buddy may have some more ill shoot him a text. i thought it wasnt supposed to go to the battery?

ok so update....i redid the ground wire to the place where the battery grounds and there is still a slight thumping noise with the windows and when i was setting my eq pressing buttons on the head unit. so next i can either try looking to make sure my rcas are straight and not pinched or i can ad an inline fuse to my remote wire like bestbuy did on my old car?

inline fuse on the remote is just so if anything gets pinched it doesnt light up that run of wire like a fuse on a firecracker.

idk man thats sorta weird. If it got better then im skeptical it has anything to do with ur rcas. That new ground you ran is tight on both ends and is a single run of wire no butt connector or cuts or anything? What gauge is it?

oh it will be a while before i can reply to this thread so you can either chill or try doing what you think would fix it. If the ground is legit then its gotta be the rcas. The ground needs to be tight at that battery ground as well as a single run of un cut wire. It also might be a good idea to sand under the stock ground.
