Is Best Buy guy an idiot??

I was in best buy looking at decks.. ( I want full iphone control thru stereo instead of just aux in mode.)

He informed me I would need a 100 dollar adapter in addition to the deck and harness.

Is that true?

no, the harness is the 100 dollar adapter. You will need a $20 mounting bracket and if you want it a $20 (I think) steering wheel control harness.

like you wanna be able to use you phone through you car stereo? Cause I wouldn't think you'd need an adaptor like that. As for using your ipod, all you need is a deck with a usb port and you should be good. Dont quote me on it though...

crutchfield is a good place to buy from, and 1 best buy just wants ur money, and 2 my experience at best buy is that if the information isnt int he computer then they dont know it, dont take their word for it, or at least keep the receipt

Yeh I think eventually I will go thru crutchfield for the stuff.. I just like seeing things in person and dont want to install myself.

and what I want to do is be able to control the ipod portion of iphone from the deck. choosing albums and songs and whatnot.

are you talking about ipod interface where you control it on the screen? if so then yes it should cost a little more. some are "capable" and come with everything necessary and some are "capable" but don't come with the stuff you need to do it

This is probably what he was talking about. You don't HAVE to get the adapter, but without the adapter your turn signals, door chime, key ding will not work anymore. I think you also lose the ability to use the DIC as well.
