Best Type of Box for These Subs...

Im picking up 2 JL 13w3v3 subs and Im wondering what would sound better for this sub ported or sealed??

Also does it matter if they were in a ported and now going in a sealed or vice versa??

Thanks for the help guys...

depends what kinda music you are listening to. if you mostly listen to rap or hip hop type of songs i would go ported.

Its not gonna matter what box they used to be in.

what kinda music do you listen to?

For rap i'd say do ported. Rock do sealed.

x2 (sorta depends on tuning too) ported will be louder period. sealed will sound better period. ported is the only way to go for rap. regarding rock, a prefab is normally tuned too high and might sound half decent but for the most part sealed would be better choice

it depends on the airspace in the box but you calculate the port size by length... longer is lower but you must use the two other factors(airspace, port size) you can just build a "big, long" port and hope

You want a good box,
Go to this site
http://poundthatsound.com/

There a Canadian company but the boxes they make are similar to the one emp posted (Flared Port) and everyone in the Canadian Audio web site I go to swears by them
They build on order, meaning they custom build it to fit your car/subs

Emperor that box looks awesome...Great job on that build...After looking at 13w3v3's Im gonna have to go with a sealed box...That should leave me a little bit of trunk room...Would 2 of these still hit pretty hard in a sealed box with a nice amp??

Last question guys I promise lol....

Would 1 13w3v3 in a ported box have more bass than 2 13w3v3's in a sealed box...Ive only ever had 1 sub in a sealed box and had many in ported boxes so I cant really tell....I already have 2 of the subs..

I just want bass that I can feel and not sure if I could get that out of the 2 subs in a sealed box..

they would be similar. but it would probably come down to the quality of both boxes

the outpout would be the same i think...but the w3 in the ported box would probably hit the lows better than the 2 w3's would in the sealed box BUT the w3's in a sealed box would sound better overall than the w3 in the ported box
