big problem

ok i put in my sub and amp...now everything works..well turns on.now i have a kenwood receiver and the instructions say to turn off the built in amp so i turned it off and the sub bangs but no music is comin out of the other speakers...only out of the sub.now when i turn the built in amp on..all speakers work but the sub doesnt bump. (the pioneer sub thumps harder) so i am reallly confused..i dont know what to do.all i want is the factory amp to control the 4 speakers and the factory sub and my aftermarket amp to control my aftermarket sub..anyone have any ideas ; ;

Are you sure you have the RCA cables going to the sub plug into the sub out and not the speaker out cables? Theres no reason the sub shouldnt work with the built in amp turn on, the amp in the kenwood reciver powers the speakers and has nothing to do with the sub output.

What you have to do is an amp bypass. You have to run new wire throughout the car or if you understand it enough tap onto the stock wires. But the stock amp will now be useless. You would be better off if you ran your own wires and even better if you went ahead and got a 4-channel amp. It would help out your sound Q a lot. As far as your sub keep it connected the way it is(if its working).

I think snobird would also agree that when he does do an amp bypass, you might as well install a 4-channel amp since youre already there. If you wanted sound Q at high volumes of course.

All the different brands have a different set frequency. Thats why no two speakers are the same even if the wattage matches.

Why does he need a amp by pass, it makes no sence all he wants to do is get the subs going, it has nothing to do with the other speakers. To prove it to you all im going to install 2 subs and a amp to my alpine headunit and not touch the stock amp running the speakers and i can gaurentee everything will still work.
