You are going to have to do some custom work probably but it can be done.

Look at this thread and check out HackAbuse's set up. It is pretty close to the end of the first page.

oh god his setup is a mess!!!!

im wondering if i could lay them all down flat and see if that would work, i know someone with an h3 that has 4 12s in the back.. yes i know its an h3 with more space, but im just sayin

btw i couldnt even do that setup, my subs are bigger than those, depth wise

Your problem is getting the box into the trunk after its made.

I had to use two seperate boxes because thats all I could get thru the trunk openings, I removed my rear seats and had to slide the boxes thru that opening.

Yes my setup is a mess, but you have to make some sacrifices for audio

It wont be pretty at all. The tallest you can make it is 14", which you will need every inch you can get to meet the recommended airspace for the sub. plus the box cannot be over like ~30" wide, or 26" deep.

In the end your trunk will be cramped to hell, and your subs will be a matter of inches or less from the ceiling of the trunk

my current box is just under 14" tall, just under 14" deep, and slightly over 30" wide

pic.

i think it may be able to be done, but you are right about them being very close to the cieling of the trunk, could that be bad?

Throw enough money at it and any thing is possible.

well if i get it done like my current box it would be :p just messin with ya but, ya idk do you think it would bust the trunk lol... or those speakers in the trunk.. u know the ones that come with the car.

And how do you think the sound qaulity would be with hardly any room left in the trunk?... i mean when its on id have the seats folded down but ya...

if it wouldnt be any good.. i might just get two stronger 12's and sell what i have now

I personally think that my setup is as best as you can go without fiberglass.

I isolated most of the extra airspace and put it in front of the subs to make sure they didnt hit anything, and they are visible.

I then designed the boxes to make a small opening that would vent into the cabin

Sure it may not look sexy, but I fit four twelves in mine and got good sound out of them

yeah.. i think first i need to get an amp that actually powers these subs right so i know what they sound like @ 600 watts rms.. instead of whatever the 200 watts its at

I helped with a set up in my friends elantra which has a trunk around the same size as ours. He is holding 4 alpine X types each of them are in seperate chambers and they are getting the required airspace. They box also doubles as an amp rack. It is a crecent shaped fiberglass enclosure that takes up just about the whole trunk and has two amps mounted into the back of it.

The concept of the designe is alot like Hack's but it is more U shaped than V shaped. It is also done if fiberglass so there is a bend to it that lets you utilize a bit more air space and lets you spread some of the subs out a bit more and they also are at an angle semi upward. It can be done it is just how much money and time do you want to put into it.

With the designe that you showed you would probably have to assemble the box in the trunk. You would probably also be chopping the top section in half and making it two seperate boxes (or if you really wanted one single box bondoing it back together inside of the trunk). And if you really wanted to get creative you might think about cutting a hole in the back of your deck and have the box port into the car. I have to assume you are going for pure SPL with a system of 4 12" subs.

Anything can be done it is just how far do you really want to take it. You would be better off going fiberglass because you can take your spare tire out and use all that space in there. You can really dress it up and you can probably make it so that one sub fires in all directions. If you are really serious start to think outside of the cubed box. Conception is the first step.

actually i doubt that would even fit, it was hard enough gettin my box in my trunk...

i guess ill just go with 2 12" mtx thunder 8500s lol

if you angle the face on the box with 15's you can make them fit.

lol i just dont like the sound of kicker subs and there is no way jenson is coming close to my car. the only thing i was thinking about going cheap on is a headrest screen but i may still go with alpine

and yes i do agree that that may not be the best setup but you dont have many options fitting 4 12s into our trunk.... IMO i wouldnt put 4 12s in a cobalt trunk ever because theres not enough space to justify it. i would go with 2 higher powered subs and call it a day but he asked how to fit 4 12s and i explained how to do so

My way isnt great either, the way the subs are facing, they must be creating at least a small cancellation effect

Quick Reply: Can a box holding 4 12" subs fit in the trunk of my cobalt ss?
