I did a search and didnt see anything, but can i make the fog lights stay on all the time?? I want them to stay on with the high beams, and retain the stock operation and turn off with the car

Illegal in Canada and some states. I can't tell you the exact reason, but it's about the amount of light and how High beams light everything and do not illuminate well at long distance. I'm sure something is possible to make it work, but it seems like it would require at least 2 relays, one for key on power, and one for the fog lamp switch, that way the high beam activation wont disable fog lights.

Do u have stock headlights? If u have gen 1, 2, or 3 u could do the "ultimate high beam mod" so ur lows stay on with your highs and then power your fogs using a relay to your lows. I, on the other hand, just replaced my fog switch with a toggle switch from radio shack. Fogs come on automatically but shut off with high beams. Which is fine with me because u can see better without your fogs on when u have your highs on.

thanks guys..when I finish up some of the other projects I got going on I will look into this... I want to look into the stock relay and see how that works, if I get lucky the relay will be given a signal when the "hi" beams come on and i will just remove that leg of the relay, or another possibility is the relay stops getting a signal when the brights come on, then i will just wire up a wire to simulate the dims being on..

or if all fails just wire in new relays and remove the old!

Do you know WHY they turn off when you turn your brights on? It's because fog lights make it harder to see in the distance. It may seem brighter, but that's because all the light is up close. The brighter the light you have in the foreground, the harder it is to see farther away. Same principle of how the lights from an oncoming car make it difficult to see past it. There's a reason I haven't used fog lights except in rain in over a year. Fog lights should be eliminated all together in cars.

I know for a fact that there is no relay for Highbeam and Foglight cancel sort to say, the BCM is what receives all the signals from the switches then outputs power out to the designated relay under the hood.

I understand what you're saying, The same applies when you turn on a dome light, it makes seeing a b***h... I was just wondering for the looks

I'm pretty sure it is illegal. However, I always have mine on since I have an aftermarket wiring kit for the fogs since my Cobalt didn't come stock with foglights. Too difficult to push the button while turning on brights
