caps store power and releases it to the amp when your subs hit

they dont really do **** IMO so i wouldnt recommend getting one

Capacitors will smooth out the power demanded of your car's battery - think of it as an electrical "shock absorber" of sorts.

The louder/harder your music is playing, the more electrical current is being pulled from your battery/alternator to your amp. The capacitor will "drain" during these high demand periods and recharge during low demand periods making life a little easier for your battery/alternator.

...So yes, it will make your battery/alternator work a little less hard as long as you aren't blasting music so high that the capacitor can't keep up either. And yes, it can stop your lights from dimming when the bass hits hard since your battery will be able to maintain it's normal voltage.

if your going to get anything u should just get a deep cycle battery, not that much more expensive and it would be alot better than a cap

the guys that say a cap doesnt work or doesnt do anything are somewhat correct, it does not doesnt help the car a whole lot (My lights still dim and i have a 2 farad cap) HOWEVER they are WRONG in a way because it definitely helps with the sound of the subs, the cap allows your amp to have a constant power source not waiting for the alternator to recharge your battery, and all of the power changes in the electrical system of your car.

do a cap and a deep cycle and your set!
or you could just go big 3 but just running comps you should be fine on the battery and cap.

caps do work but they are only really useful in certain situations

i wouldn't remove it if you already have it but a deep cycle battery is a much better investment
