Found a cheaper one, Deka:

What I've found out.
DEKA is the manufacturer of the Braille labeled battery - fact.

the Braille and the Deka etx14 are the exact same box - fact.

the Braille and the Deka are the same design (based off of the schematic)

the Braille and the Deka weigh the exact same - 11.4 lbs - fact

the Deka tests the same as what the Braille is claimed to test at - 360-400CCA- fact

$70.00 @

hey guys i am an assistant store manager at my local batteries plus and carbon fiber batteries are jokes. battery wieght is based on lead content. lead content is directely proportionate to cranking amps. lead is heavy. therefore a battery that weighs 15 lbs. no good. optima batteries arent any better. i have about 20 that i warrantied in the last 3 months. mainly red tops. if anything id say go get yourself an odyssey pc625. doesnt weigh that much and delivers 625 CCA for the first five seconds of cranking. that is how odyssey creates their part numbers. ie pc1500 creates 1500 CCA for the first five seconds. also DEKA is made by east penn. large oem battery manufacturer for luxury import vehicles. thats just my 200 words or less.
evening gentlemen.

The local batteries plus is filled with a bunch of retards, so hopefully you know more than they do :p

I've never had a problem with Optima's in any situation, and I use them a **** load.

There are also 8lb racebat batteries. Those are not expensive, but you can't use your dope stereo with it for long. But I don't think there are many batteries lighter than 8lbs. And that will save you ~ 20lbs over stock. If you do that and chuck the junk in your trunk you can drop significant weight.

I ditch my seats and all the stuff from the trunk when I go to the drags... is it really worth it to get a light weight battery?

what are you saving at most at 11 or 15lbs.... lets go on the high side and say you have a battery that weighs 30lbs... (it doesn't) are you gonna notice the difference in the pull of your car with one dumbell or bowling ball in the back seat? slower 1/4 miles becuase you have your cat in your lap that day?

sounds like a gimmick to me.

Well the weight savings from a battery is comparable to taking the back seats out of your cobalt. So if that's worth it than I guess so, but it does not ultimately make your car much faster. Every little bit helps though.

If you do any road racing/auto-xing you're actually putting yourself at a disadvantage if you lighten up the battery. It's in the right rear to help counter balance the added weight of a driver. Take weight off the battery and you shift more crossweight onto the left front, which on SS/SCs is the non-drive axel if the vehicle is not equipped with an LSD. Not really a good thing.
