Cefaln452- thanks, I'll definitly have to check that out.
koch1ar-thanks. I have a 84 fiero that is getting one too. I have a 3100 that I built to twin turbo installed, and am just waiting for spring to melt the 2 feet of snow we have up here so I can get it dug out. I got the Ostrich Emulator from www.moates.net to run the modified 92 w-body TGP code, and I need the CarPC to tune it and keep tabs on it. I suppose I could make the manifolds now ( I removed the engine again to start the manifolds, but got sidetracked), but I don't want to get them done and find out the GT17 turbos are going to hit.
chris88z24-thanks, I'm actually kind of surprised how well it's shaping up. About 5 minutes after I took those pictures I dropped the entire unit onto the cement floor in my families shop. I broke the fall with my leg, but the plastic on the sides has a couple of small scratches in it. I guess it's better that I drop it now than after I painted it, lol. My son learned a few new words that day.
Which color is it that matches?
I'm guessing the Light Titanium Metallic, but I ask because paint chips can be misleading, especially
when viewed over computer monitors with differing color profiles.
I found a pic of a screen that is very similar to the one I have.
The only differences are that mine has two inputs for backup cameras (and a button to
switch between them) and the window for the IR remote control sensor.

Hey, good stuff! Nice fit, mine didn't fit that nicely. If you like to paint it close to stock, you can use Honda Odyssey silver paint (newest gen).
If u need any info about car pc stuff pm me.
Post more pics, i want to see how this goes.
Good luck!

couple of hours, like 3-4
not including drying time for the
fiberglass and body filler.
it actually went pretty quick.
I would work on it for like 30 mins, then leave it for a day or two
(until I could get back to it)
then repeat, lol
Hopefully in the next few days i'll get some pics of the
PC mounted in the trunk.
All I need to do is wire it up.
Aside from painting the bezel and probably 20 things I'm not aware of.

Here's the PC I have mounted to the PS rear inner wheel well.

I wanted it out of the way so that I could still use my trunk and not worry about stuff hitting it.

Thats a good cheep carpc. Mine is an old p3 mobo with some goodies in it and runs centrafuse with no problems since last june. Also it survived last 2 months with -15 celsius or colder. So Im very happy with the result.
Also, i would say, add another cooling fan on that case, its too packed.

It has two cooling fans that blow accross the entire motherboard.
Not sure where I would add another one, maybe on the exhaust side? (IO panel)
I'm running RideRunner (formerly RoadRunner) and Iguidance for Nav.
The only thing I could do to upgrade mine short of swapping in a 2g Dimm is to swap out
the MB.
At that point I might add in the newer PC to run my dash screen/stereo, and hook up the existing one to the rear screens for my son. I already had to let him down gently that he wouldn't be able to play UT3 and Crysis on it.
So, he countered with "well, can you install the stereo you took out of the dash into the back so I don't have to listen to what you are?"-the kids 7 years old.
I asked him to take a look around the garage bay that my SS/SC was parked in and tell me where he saw the minivan. He has a laptop and an ipod touch, I told him to play with those, LOL.
Of course, it's only a matter of time until I find a way to do it, LOL

take a trim peice into the Auto place, I got matched paint from Advanced Auto here, it was like 30$ for a little bit but it matched up great.
(please forgive the "rally" it was a test run)

That color does look like a good match. I've had nad experiences with paint matching, but I could always try a test piece.
Yep, born and raised Native Maine-ah, try not to hold it against me, LOL
It's okay though, I choose to live here. Though unlike most of the state, I've actually tried somewhere else for a bit.

Couple questions because I want to do this as well.
1) How are you getting the audio from the PC to your cars speakers
2) Will the stock alternator and battery hold up to running a PC and monitor?

Power
The LCD is being driven from the PC's PSU.
The PSU is a DC-DC unit (not a power inverter)
Basically, all it does is regulate the cars approx 13.8-14.4 to
a solid 12v. It actually draws as much current as a 160W car amp, so it's
pretty minimal.

MP3Car
I would start at the
RoadRunner (now called RideRunner forum under Software/Frontends,
Then go one to the Hardware forums.
The most popular Frontends (the software that combines the audio player, Video player, GPS, etc.) are RoadRunner(free), Centrafuse(pay to play), StreetDeck (pay to play).
I would start out with RoadRunner because it is free, to get your feet wet and to know what to expect, then move to the others if you see something that you like.
They're all good platorms, and run best on Windows XP.
The solution that EmporerJ11 suggested in my situation was to open up a couple of RCA cables and seperate the negative and positive wires from their jackets, then connect those to the factory amplifier inputs. The factory Amplifier accepts four channel inputs and seperates the subwoofer and tweeters via internal crossover.
Currently, as the PC I purchased only has two channel RCA outputs, I am going to run one sheilded RCA from the PC in the trunk out to the factory headunit location, and at that location use two splitters (seperated into speaker wire leads as indicated above) and splice them to a Metra plug for input into the OEM wiring connector.
I plan on using a FusionBrain unit to connect the OEM steering wheel controls, and will be using a SiLabs USB FM reciever connected to the OEM antenna.
So my PC will be factory integrated into my 05 SS/SC with the Pioneer system.
Later on I may choose to upgrade the amplifier/speakers, but currently have no plans to do so.
There is also a project working on making a Linux program called nghost that runs atop an Ubuntu Netbook Remix OS. I plan to move to that once more work is done to reach feature parity with Roadrunner.
Once you have a chance to look around, post any questions you have, I'd be glad to help.
As well, another way to get a feel for what using a CarPC with Roadrunner
is like, there are alot of Youtube videos that show people
outlining features and showing off their setups.
just Search for "RoadRunner CarPC" or "RoadRunner carputer" in Youtube.
