Cell Phone Car starters?

Anyone have one, and want to let me know what kind and how you like it? I was looking at the C3 stuff by Autopage. $150 a year for the service isn't to bad.

Dumbest ****** idea ever and it requires yet ANOTHER monthly subscription. I can start my redline or silverado from 4 blocks away MINIMUM with my compustar 2-way. Why the **** would you need anymore run time than that? Now the two-way alarm feature available is something worth looking into but even still, if you're more than 4 blocks from your vehicle and the alarm goes off, wtf are you going to do about it even if someone is breaking into it?

sorry, http://c3autopageusa.com/ and I work in a Basement (that doubles as a fall out shelter) and have to park 3 blocks away from work, I would like to get to a warm vehicle when I get out at night. (at 2am) and knowing where the vehicle is (if stolen) is not a bad thing either...

http://www.compustar.com/main.htm PRO2W9000FMR 2 way LCD model has 5000 ft of range. If you have to walk 3 blocks to get to your car im sure if you started it just as you were leaving work it would be plenty warm by the time you got there...

so your just trying to tell me you wouldn't do it? Ok, but thats not what I asked about. I know of systems with a mile range that would work just fine from the door, but none of them will tell me if my car is stolen from the parking lot. Nor allow me to track it.

My question was for anyone that had the system or one like it, and was How does it work and how did they like it.

Thanks

LOL, yeah cause nobody that installs car starters EVER thought about that. Have had mine for over 2 years and it still hasn't hit a wall.... LOL. The 2-way compustars also have integrated alarms that page back as well. I just think that is a lot of money to shell out per year for a useless feature. These cars are not very easy to steal without a key.

I'm not certian I said anything about Installing it in the Cobalt, why would it need it, it's in the garage for the Winter. I have a ZR2 that could use it though, and it's a Auto. (and I'm sure there not to hard to steal) So does anyone have any experience with these?

I haven't heard of anyone actually installing any as I know for our shop they aren't available to us till the new year.

Ah, hmm. The Local installer here has it installed on his BMW, looked pretty cool, and seemed to work pretty quickly too. I was just hoping for some one elses experiences with it.

It should work as quickly as a normal starter. It works through SMS text messaging service from what I understand.

ah, I didn't know that, thought it was actually calling the car and talking to it (which would take longer)

Yes i believe some remote starters are set up to where as long as the e brake is up it will "trick" the computer into thinking the clutch is pressed.
