K, so I'm going to order a single din kenwood headunit, but crutchfield insists I need the $80+ harness or I'll lose my DIC and Door chimes. But I'm pretty sure the guy I talked to on the phone last night is an idiot, seeing as I've read posts where people say the metra 71-2103 harness works fine and retains the DIC and door chimes.
So basically, from people that have used this harness, are the functions retained? Just so I'm 100% before I spend my cashola.
Oh yeah, 05 cobalt, base everything, no onstar or pioneer systems.

the 71-2103 is the reverse harness to plug into the stock radio. the 70-2103 is the one you need and yes ive had that harness in my car for years with dic and chimes

Will this harness work in an 09 ss, I have an aftermarket amp and subs, I will be installing an a AVID Z1 With nav

 

no it only works for the 05-06. for an 07+ you need the 2104 or gmos-lan03/04 (depending on pioneer)
