Digital Designs

So after hearing all the rants and raves about the DD subs I went to check them out, and I'm impressed. I have booked my car in to have a custom box/amprack built in to it. Its going to be a little fiber glass and a little wood with a floating amp rack for both the amps.
I have upgraded my front end amp to an Xtant 604x (1999) rated at 100x4 @4ohms 150x4 @2ohms and 300x2 @4ohms and my sub amp to a Rockford Fosgate Power 1100a2 (1999) rated at 500x2@4ohms, 730x2@2ohms and 1400x1@4ohms. I want to switch to DD subs seeing as the place where I took the car to get the work done is the Western Canada rep (thanks to hello kitty for recomending Sounds Good Audio, great bunch of guys, excellent customer service) Now my question is should I go with 2 10" DVC DD 2500, or 1 12" DVC DD 3500.
In mono that Fosgate is only 4ohm stable so 1 dvc 12 would have to be wired in series
But in stereo it is 2ohm stable so 2 10" 2500 with a 750 rms rating would line up almodst perfect with the 730 rms watts that the rockford puts out.
On the flipsile, the 10's would need alot more air space than the 12.
You see I'm teetering back and forth, any advice would be helpful

Haha Wow not many people know about DD and everyone that does and have heard them and been nothing but impressed.... As for your question if i am not mistaking the 3512 is a dual 4ohm so parallel would give you 2ohm as with the two 10s it would be 4ohm or 1ohm... i would do the one 12 cheaper and less space and right ohms...... and as for EmperorJJ1 i lived in el paso for 4 years (military) have you ever been to Monster Sound?

He would run the 12" mono, so he would have to wire it up for 4ohm.

If you read, he was talking about running the two 10" stereo. His am supports 730w X2 @ 2ohm. So each would have it's own channel.

How much do you use your truck man? How much bass do you want? The 10s will take up a fair bit more room, without doing something fancy like two tucked boxes, but will hit harder.

I'm in the middle of pulling the old stero out and finishing the dynamat before it goes in, I'll post pictures when its done.
BTW- it is 3 am and I swear I'll never leave anything till the last minute again!!!

So I took it in today, and changed my mind again, after taking some measurements and a rough layout we figured there was enough power and enough space to go with 2 2512's.
He's going to relocate the batt to one of the sides and make a fiberglass mould of the spare tire well, the top will be MDF, the oly difference with the 12's rather than 10's is about 4" of hieght added on to the box.
When I was laying the hush mat on the bottom of the deck lid I removed the trunk light and the seat releases,so I also had hip put in a some lighting, blue neon, I think just one should do, I don't really like the neon light thing but can't really show off the trunk without any light
No pics yet still too early...maybe friday
So those of you that install, there going to make the box and amp rack then finish up the trim in the trunk (Black vinyl) I' am having them put in all new power/ground wire (I'm old school I wanted red and black, the power wire I had was purple) anyway my question is how long do you think it will take to get it all done...ballpark

Depends on how much fabbing they have to do, how much your paying for speedy work, and how busy their shop is bro.

I'm personally looking into getting two slimline 10" subs, with custom tucked glass boxes built into the rear sides of the trunk and the amp racks into the front sides. If you got the money, you might want to consider that since it will leave most of the trunk totally usable.

DD is where it's at man. I wish I had gotten those 2500's instead of the Type-Rs, but Best Buy employee discount was a little too convincing. We have a local at an audio shop here running one 15" DD 9500 series in his Xterra running 3400 watts to it and hit 151 and still has some work and tuning to do. VERY good quality subs at an amazing price. The 8" 1500s are pretty sweet too.
