Double-din with DIC?

Recently bought an 05 ss/sc and I have a pioneer app radio 3 that I want to install. I've read a few different threads saying if I use a double din radio the driver information center cannot be used? In my 05 the display for the dic is under the tach and the two buttons to operate it are next to the steering wheel. I have the pioneer system and Xm but NOT onstar. Is it possible to install a double din and keep the dic? I won't miss the Xm it's not going to be used anyway and don't mind spending a decent amount on a wiring harness but have no idea what to get.

I apologize for the three posts. Damn app on iPhone said "unable to post" but actually did make the post. Would appreciate it if the other two could be deleted. New to the forum and just trying to get some info to do the job right.

^This. Unless you buy a special harness you'll lose the radio control function on your steering wheel, but you won't lose functionality of the DIC or the buttons that control it.

This is not true. Your misguided. Multi posting or complaining about multi posting does not result in inactivity. That's moronic. Tell you what, post a thread, and you will see. You'll get a **** load of views but probably not a lot of response. Why?? Easy. Topics newbs post have been posted since the car has come out, either platform, and has been covered dozens of times. A simple Google search will find you the best topics generally. Very interesting topics get alot of reply usually. And those are posted daily damn near. I.e (what's this code that's been covered a **** ton of times, how do I change the oil, what's a good oil, What parts SHOULD I buy, how much HP do I have) see what I mean? Dumb ass posts like that, yea, dead. Why? Cuz ******* stupid. Google once and a while or get on the god damn dyno like a man and find out for yourself and stop being a *****. Not directed to you swan man lol. Just a generalization.

Yeah I know what you mean. Multi posting can be annoying, but if everyone did their own research and found out on their own then there would be no forums lol. Lots of people come here and to other sites for help. If they accidentally multi post and get bashed on for it and their questions don't get answered then they won't come back. Without new(b) members all the old members leave eventually and then the site is dead.

I'm my defense..... The multiposting was an accident app kept saying unable to post so thought neither of the first two went through-I was wrong lol. I researched the topic quite a few times on google and a couple different forums and could not get a solid answer that's why I had to ask but thanks everyone.

I do agree that multiposting is annoying as hell saw it a lot on a jeep forum I've been on for a few years.
