double din question w/onstar and xm

Ok im sure it's been asked 200 times but I'll just lay it out. 06 cobalt SS with the pioneer system and the factory sub. Now I have onstar which is activated for 6 months for free. But the head unit doesn't support on star directions to the radio which sucks but ow well. Also I have XM radio. Now I want to put in a double din pioneer dvd navi unit what will I need and to install this and to keep onstar and xm. Never put a radio in on an onstar and an xm car. Any help would be greatly appreciated

As far as the XM goes depending on the radio if you get one thats xm or sat radio ready you can by the external pieces to get XM radio BUT its up to XM on if they want to transfer it over. You might get lucky but dont "expect" them to do it. Onstar is a whole different beast. You would have to do some research on that to see what module harnesses if any will keep onstar. Ive been out of the game for a while but last i knew you had to get the dash kit for the G6 and use that as your "harness" with the display tucked in the dash. Expect at least 300 in parts to keep both

Ok keeping the SS doing the double din radio. I'm bringing this back from the dead. I'm not keeping the XM radio nor the onstar in the car. Pointless in this car to be honest the turn by turns do not work in the radio and well the only cool feature is hey can you unlock my door. I could care less about the radio steering wheel controls because I never use them. So is this a wiring harness, mounting kit and double din simple install or am I getting myself excited over something that could be a nightmare. And I do have the pioneer premium audio

no plenty of people install what you are wanting with no issues. The only thing that sometimes comes up is needing to hardwire the remote amp turn on but even that is relatively simple

Hard wiring the amp shouldn't be so bad. Just had to find out which wire the remote is. Just sucks I can't add anything to that factory radio. Ipod, phone, etc. I guess there is ways to do it but I don't feel like hacking up the XM wires to do it. I'd rather just put a nice Navigation double din in.
