Downgrade to stock sub box

I currently have two 12s in the trunk. I want to free up some space in the trunk so was thinking about buying the stock box and an upgraded ten inch sub. How muxch of a difference will it sound going from two twelves to one ten inch sub? How hard would it be build a box to fit where the stock box is goes?

What's your current setup exactly? My buddy has 2 12's (not sure what ones) and my single 10" alpine type r puts his **** to shame. If you're good with fiberglass i don't think it'd be all that hard to make a box to fit in the stock location.
