Dumb audio question

Alright so I am planning on installing a kenwood double din with nav and i know that i need the harness, antenna adapter, etc. I know a lot of guys on here used the gmos lan 04 harness to hook up their double dins. I am just wondering if this harness is really necessary if you dont have onstar? I have the pioneer system but i dont have onstar so i am wondering if I should go with the expensive harness?

you dont need the expensive harness but you will lose all chimes (door, seatbelt, etc)

I assume u've got an 07+ yea?

If you have an 07+ and want door chimes/clicker of turn signal/seat belt chime: Pac C2R-GM11
If you have an 07+ and don't care for all the above mentioned: Metra 70-2202

I personally love not having door chimes and all. a couple times girls sitting shotgun accused me of not using my signal to change lanes because they didn't hear a click. LOL.

For reference, I've included the wiring guide found on a sticky to back this up. Since you are Pioneer look at the US8 connections. The other radio listed is the other mainstream mp3 deck used in 07+'s.
