as in the other thread i just ordered some b-quite the stuff i great. i only did my trunk lid due to the weather and i can notice a little bit of a difference. i can't wait to do my whole car. but i wouldn't do dynamat. the other stuff is the same stuff just cheaper. i would go with second skin or b-quite

I went to home depot and purchased a Furnace Ducting thermal insulation wrap stuff...

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...358&lpage=none

Put down like 3 layers on the trunk and doors... works great and is cheaper solution.

that looks to be a good db reducer on the cheap nice idea

to the op there are alot of options out there, i posted recently a cost per square foot breakdown, and hopefully the guy that always links to the sound deadner show down puts up the link as well. dynamat is your most expensive option out there. and if it isn't the newer extreme stuff its definately not worth it.

whatever you buy make sure it is butyl based and not asphalt based. why? what happens to tar in the summer? I've personally seen more than one car with an asphalt based mat fail and melt out of doors, fall off of roofs and trunk lids, not to mention the lovely aroma every time it gets hot.

The only downside to the stuff I posted... I have a black cobalt, with dark windows and in the summer it gets hot. The matting doesn't melt like the tar does, but the Insulation retains the heat IN the car... dun dun dun... make sure you leave your windows slightly cracked.

yeah. It's good stuff when layered up to sound deaden, but man is it hot in the summer. If you leave the windows up, the air expands and it's a good way to crack the windshield.

I used it in the doors only 1 layer and the trunk has 3 layers, I think I spent like $65 max. No more rattles, and the bass repsonse from the front speakers filled out.

I agree with the ashpalt comment though. My brother got some tar on his door and we cleaned it off... man was it a bitch to clean... 2 weeks later, it was back!

not sure on what stuff your using but second skin damplifier mats are supposed to help heat issues... Several peeps on that forum agree and it seems like my trunk is not at hot as my cabin after being in the sun all day (i have much more material applied in the trunk)

I've read that using Home Depot furnace insulation contains chemicals that you don't want to be exposed to and isn't as good as the products made specifically for this application.

yah i think that and the insulation is the ricer way. i believe they are messier and emit harmful chemicals in an enclosed area, like a car
