Fuel Range Low Indicator

Anyone know if there's a way to change the display for fuel range when your tank is low? Once the low fuel indicator comes on it will no longer tell me how many miles are left on the current tank of gas. If anything, that's when knowing your fuel range is most critical. I've got an 08 SS turbocharged. I'm assuming there's no way to change it but I figured if anyone knows they're most likely on this board.

I felt the same way when I had my balt! Me and my 3 ss friends. Its stupid, when you have a full tank, half, or even a quarter.. you dont care about the distance. But when youre in the middle of nowhere and you know you have no gas, then you need to know

fuel range low usually kicks in at about 35 miles remaining.

does it really matter? i know it sucks but your going to pull into the nearest gas station anyways so whats the difference if you know the exact miles left on a tank (given that number is actually accurate)

GM is covering their ass. If it said 10 miles left and you ran out of gas in East LA you would sue their ass off so instead they just tell you that you are low so it is your fault.

I think Domkk333 sums it up with, "Its stupid, when you have a full tank, half, or even a quarter.. you dont care about the distance. But when youre in the middle of nowhere and you know you have no gas, then you need to know"

I don't care if it's an estimate, it's better than "hey your fuel range is low". I already know it's low because the "low fuel" indicator goes off. I don't need two different indicators for the fact that my fuel is low.

how do you think people survived with out GPS, cell phones, gas indicators?

you don't need them... if you have common sense you would assume if you have an 1/8 tank of gas left you should probably fill up.

Fuel Rangle Low=40- miles left in the tank
Low Fuel=20- miles left in the tank

Just start watching your gauges.

I know you don't need them. What any of us needs is irrelevant. I didn't ask for opinions on whether I need to know my fuel range. I asked if there's a way to show it when fuel is low.

It wasn't an opinion it was a statement... when you get low plan on stopping at a gas station, don't rely on a light to tell you, you are too low on gas. It's pretty much common sense.

Is that what LOW FUEL means? Thank you for clearing that up.

I don't need to re-read it. Perhaps you should. Seriously this is a little ridiculous. I'm not sure why it's so hard for you to understand. I know that LOW FUEL means I'm low on fuel. I didn't ask what the LOW FUEL RANGE message means. You keep saying go to the gas station. I didn't ask for a solution to a low fuel tank. Why didn't I ask that question? Because it is common sense. You keep providing me with an answer to a question I didn't ask. I asked, "Anyone know if there's a way to change the display for fuel range when your tank is low?" Your first reply of "nope" was all that was needed for this post. The rest was simply annoying.

I don't have an owners manual. I bought the car used and they didn't provide me with one.
