Gen 1 light output difficulties

so heres the low down. i have Gen 1 headlights with reflectors as the low beams and both on as high beams. In the low beams i have sub 35 Watt hids. In the projectors i have 35W HIDs.

I have made sure these things are aimed correctly. They are exactly to DOT spec. But illumination they put down on the road is well dissapointing. i think the stockers i have with the nighthawk illuminated the road better at night.

Any tips? or do the projectors in the gen 1's just suck for light output?

one thing i was considering was swapping out the projector in them for a retro like a morimoto mini H1. think it would be worth my time or just a waste of money

I'm doing just that to a set of gen3's right now (check out the retrofit thread for pics).. its totally worth your time if you want the performance but dont expect it to be as easy as a regular OEM headlight retrofit

both of these projectors here are Morimoto MH1's.. i got rid of all of that ebay trash :

after looking at what you did i think thats the route i will go. Plus a little Challenge just serves to keep things fun right!

I found a canadian dealer for the MH1 and its only 125 shipping included so thats not bad at all.

give me something to work on in my limited spare time.

how cheap? it wont help ur lows situation but you might be able to put them in the reflectors without melting anything
