GPS Mount

I'm looking into getting a GPS (Probably Magellan Roadmate 1412) and have started to consider where to mount it in my SS. The traditional center-windshield seems like it would be too far away, and the cable would dangle. I was thinking about either the top of the windshield near the mirror (and hiding the wire), or the left side of the windshield near the dash. Then I ran across these cupholder mounts on ebay and I was curious if anybody has any experience with them. Do they block the HVAC controls?

What do you guys use?

I wouldn’t get a Magellan go with a Garmin they are so much easier to use/user friendly and you can access your POI at any time. With a Magellan you can only get to them while you’re navigating on the highway or if you’re not in a route. I see ten Garman sold to one Magellan.

I normally see people getting them installed in the left side near your inspection stickers (or whatever your state has) or by the mirror. I've seen the cup holders they work well. I don’t know how they look though in a cobalt.
