Ground wire on Cobalt

Hi,
Does anyone know what is attached to the stock ground wire in the trunk from the battery? I thought it was some kind of electrical load sensor but I am thinking im wrong. It looks like something to measure amperage though, because it goes completly aroung the wire and is taped on.

Thanks

It does not look like a fusable like. You have the ground wire, then the device is attached to it with tape and it has wires going to it aswell. Not sure what it is now

Ive think I found out what it is. Its Part of the GM RVC(Regulated Voltage Control) Its called a battery current sensor

correct. it's really the baseline to the newer system used in the Cruze. What it does is monitor voltage and tells the alternator to back off full duty when there is surplus power to the battery, and then lets the alternator know when to semi-intelligently kick back into a higher duty cycle.

maybe try it both ways on and off. then again the car might not like it not on there or not fully charge unless it is on.
