halo led project

so im doin a custom led project in my first gen halos, basically doin the audi led type setup, i dont know what im doin but im giving it a go

i have about 50 leds on each headlight

im running them parallel all positives on one wire, all grounds on another wire

i have the resistors it came with to run 12v,

so i had it all wired up, before i sealed it i figured id test , it worked, then i started tucking wires and i tested again and no dice,

i thought maybe the resistor i had in line before the first positive led maybe got twisted and acted as if there was no resistor blowing all the LEDs

but i pulled it all out and tested again and it seemed to work, im like wtf, since it was all soldered and twisted and cut and glued, i wasnt gonna re use, then i blew all the lights

this is my question.....

does the silver paint on the back of the housing act a conductive material? because it seems to me it all grounded out when i started tucking the wires and had all the leads touching the paint which cause it to not work
