head unit help/advice

allright for starters i am an electronics illeterate. just that i would let you know that off the bnat so you know what you are dealing with. now i want to get an in dash touch screen radio/dvd/ navi/with ipod hookup. I dont want a flip out. i searched the threads n stufff didnt really find what i was looking for other than pioneer eclipse n alpine are the best but i was already leaning toward pioneer to keep it alll the same. now i had a dakota and i put a sony xplone stero and 6x9s in it n it sounded like ****. so i dont want that to happen i like the way the stock stero sounds i just want all the other frills. so this is my question to you what stero would you reccomend that woud be dvd/ navi/with ipod hookup non flip out n not make the system sound like **** brand and model and xm would be nice tooo thanks!!! sry so lond! !!!

stereo * (for proper spelling)

do you have the premium pioneer or just base stereo in it because you might need an adapter of sorts to work with the pioneer. just go to crutchfield.com and enter your car and model and they will show you what fits it`s called outfit your car, anyway heres a link to some kenwoods that will fit our cars.

I am biased, but I recommend the pioneer F90-BT.... that is what I put in mine. Since you claim to be electronic illiterate I would recommend paying to having it installed...It is not an easy install by any means

06 is alot easier then the 07 then. you don't need the expensive harness the regular 10-15 dollar one is fine.

personally i would lean towards kenwood if you want navigation. any of the dnx series have garmin navigation and its alot more user friendly IMO

yes. any radio will do that thou. our stock hu has line level output vs the speaker level output on all aftermarket hu's. basically the volume starts off louder and continues to get louder until it distorts with alot more volume left to go. its not the best situation but for a daily driver nothing crazy audio wise you should be fine as long as you don't just totally blast it.

I just put in an eclipse avn 6610 double din and i hooked it up with the cheaper harness in my 06 cobalt. Before i had taken out the stock sub and put in a pioneer premier 10", one of the best slim subs, made absolutely no difference. but when i put that new double din in..... SOOOOOOOOOo much louder and clearer on sub and every speaker.

Our stock radio is a lil bigger than a double din. 1 Din is the stardard size for aftermaket radios. You'll have to buy a dash kit for whatever you buy single or double

one thing you need to rember esp if u have the pioneer up graded system you need to get an antena adapter

another thing u can do insted of buying the harness is just use ur dmm (multimeter) for power and ground.. acc is kinda hard to find cause the car dose not use it it uses data 2 but their is 2 brown wires running out of pin 14 i believe it is on ds bcm or on passanger side their is a thick pink wire u will get acc from ..... then just run new rca cables for ur amp
