HELP!! New Head Unit Wiring Question!

I recently bought an Alpine IDA x305s. I decided to install myself, I mean how hard could it be, the wires are all color coded.

My issue comes after I have the unit installed. When I turn my signal lights on, the Unit shuts off, and I don't here the sound of the signal light (the ticking noise). When I turn the signal lights off, the unit comes back on.

I'm pretty sure I connected all the wires correctly, but it was beginning to get dark when I was doing it, so I am going to double check them.

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

I'm driving a base model 2010 Cobalt by the way, no steering wheel audio controls, not extras... just a Cobalt. And yes, I realize this is simple, but it's my first installation so I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks

all the wires are color coded to the plug and play harness you hopefully bought. except the power(red) and that goes to the fuze box on the passenger side of the car. i believe i hooked mine into the sunroof fuze. idk if its diff between the SS and the base. but its pretty simple. check all your wires and make sure you didn't cross any.

You should have paid like 100 for the harness for it to work correctly. I didnt wanna spend the miney so i just bypassed it knowing that my onstar wont work and my i will haveno clicking noise with my blinkers.

Does it look like this? 2004-up select 11 bit stereo replacement interface

jmesl8er: The wiring harness came from Crutchfield, don't remember the name/brand or whatever but they sent out with the unit. Everything came specifically for my car with the unit.

VBartSS: it did not look exactly like that, but I didn't by pass anything, everything is connected.

punksk8ter62: I will be double checking the wires, because it was starting to get dark as I was connecting them, but with regards to the red wire, there was one coming from the PAC adapter (required for chimes, etc to work on GM vehicles) and one coming from the harness that plugs into the head unit. My understanding was that these two red wires should be connecting together. Is this incorrect?

sounds like you got the wrong thing. Mine was almost a 100 bucks, and it does all the chimes in the car too

Just a simple update for you guys, I pulled the unit, and on the PAC adapter there is a button to turn the chimes off/on... when the chimes are turned off, there is no issue at all... I call tech support at Crutchfield and they told me basically what I wa suspecting was the issue.. I need to get a SPDT Relay because there is not enough power going to support the deck and the signal light chimes.

I'll update when I install the relay to make sure it worked.
