Anyone who has installed without harness. I installed an alpine head unit without the expensive harness. the question i have is does this car not have a 12v ignition wire running to the stock stereo? i didnt find one at all. i dont drive my car during the day much so right now i have the alpines ignition wire connected to the car's dimmer, so it turns on at night since my lights r on. any help would b appreciated

 

so you got no harness at all? not even the $12 one?

well if not, the 12V ignition wire is the yellow one i bealive, then you run your 12V constant power out of the fuse box

 

the 07 cobalt doesnt have a yellow wire. well it does but the yellow one is for the rear speakers, the constant (battery) wire is red. and i checked all the wires with a voltmeter and i found the dimmer but now ignition wire.

 

oh 07 wiring is diffrent

 

i know its different and im not familiar with it thats y i ask the question if anyone knows how to get to the ignition wire or hook up the ignition wire?

 

you have to run your own ... tap the sunroof fuse... btw the reason i didnt reply to your other thread is because personally i think cutting off the facotry harness, loosing the chimes and all that is ghetto
