Hiding your Ipod/Aux cord
Hiding your Ipod/Aux cord
I hate it how our stock radios have the Ipod/aux inputs right in front. I would love to find a way to hide it like under the console and just have the connector come up by my center console. I don't like having the cord flop around all over the place. I know it sounds a little weird but what can I say. Has anyone ever attempted this. If so I'd like to know so I can do it myself
Funny you should mention this, cause I thought the same thing. So I went ahead and did it...I pulled the trim pieces off, and what I did was take a dremel tool and open up the piece right by the passenger air bag light so that the wire would fit through and then ran it behind everything. I will take pictures of how my wiring is run and post it up later tonight when I get home.

You can see in this picture where i ran the wires through....one is the aux for the Ipod and the other for the Sirius radio

This gives you a better idea of what I meant when I said I opened up by the passenger air bag light...just a little bit with a dremel and they fit right through there

I also ran the power cord for my GPS unit, since this is the only vehicle I use that particular one in

And this is the underside where I brought the GPS cord and the power cord for the Sirius through...again just a little bit with the dremel

Brought the aux for the Ipod up from under the cupholder

Ipod and GPS hooked up like when they are in use

Power for the Sirius

And that is all you see of the antennae and aux wires for the Sirius
Hope this helps you or anyone else out and feel free to PM me if you have any questions

I use GM's Personal Audio Link for my iPod, and the USB port for my USB memory card reader.
The PAL is a separate module that comes with a plug and play harness but requires you to tap into the XM wire on the BCM in order to use the XM band to transmit audio.
It works pretty well, but it is not as elegant a solution as NCC's and the interface is a little clunky compared to the radio's built in stuff.
