HID's in an 09 ss/tc??

Now, after playing around for about 2-3 hours trying to get the high/low HID kit to work we gave up and put low beam only in for now..........the problem we kept having is either the lights wouldn't turn on or they'd turn on without the key, car locked and everything................any ideas??

Yeah dude it's wired wrong ..

look at your schematic and make sure you follow the wiring diagram exzact one wire is a ground wire and two wires are for the low - high beam control. They go to the convertor box . make sure you have the HID convertor grounded to the same ground on the stock wiring harness . You may have to use 3M quick connectors or something to splice into the stock wiring harness figure out what the wires are by following them to the original factory bulb

we used a 9007 relay kit with 1 ballast per headlight, same kit as we put on my friends ss/sc and his works perfect.

Check your relays.

How did you adapt both balasts to work with one plug?

What did you use for the external power and ground source?

We tried 2 different relays, 4 different ballasts, and yes we forsure had good ground and power cause we had them on. I've had a dead relay b4 so we tried another one of the exact same 9007 harness, no go. We powered each bulb manually with each ballast to ensure they were not dead. I've got the same ballasts in there right now powering the low beam kit we got to work for us. Were thinking maybe the 09 has some funky computer setup to stop ppl from using HID's, the guy i get these kits from has had that happen before with other cars and it takes a little extra wiring and an extra switch in the cabin to make it work properly with a high/low kit. If we can't figure it out soon, i'll be goin back for foglights.

PS, we installed the EXACT same kit on my friends 06 ss/sc and it works perfect.............i'm stumped

u build em and i'll install em, i have ZERO craftmanship skills. btw, my HID's don't have that stupid ass glare, they actually have a cutoff, i can take pics in the next hour or 2 and show u too. But hell, if u wanna make me some TSX retrofit projector headlights and not charge me up the ass for them I will take em...........anything over $300 is pushing it for me already and I paid approx $200 for the HID kit.

If they have a cutoff, then you have projectors.
So, why are you using hi/low bulbs?

They make HID's for non projectors that have a cutoff.
I'm pretty sure those are the ones with the top portion of it painted, to generate a cutoff.
My origanal kit came with them but I swaped to regular H1's when I went into projectors.

While your partially right, those HID's are called D2R bulbs.
They are made for specially designed reflectors, and should not be used in halogen projectors, as they will still produce a glare.

If you want to learn more about HID's, feel free to browse this thread;
