How much can stock handle

How much can the stock alternator/battery/power wires handle in the 2005 cobalt?

I'm just talking about taking out the stock 10" pioneer woofer and adding a new amp/subs. I'm getting a amp that does 1400 rms, and i'm wondering if my alternator can even handle that

I have 2 kenwood 12's with a 1000 what amp

yours have a little bit more power then mine...i donthave an exact answer for your question but as long as you run a capacitor youll be fine.

I have a 2007 and im not using one and if i turn my music up anywhere over half my interior and exterior lights dim everytime they hit. its quite annoying.

I have two 760w amps, 2 1400watt pioneer subs, a 2 farad cap, performance pioneer speakers, a touch screen head unit, and the stock sub/amp. No issues.

I'm pullin @ peak around maybe 1465w off my batt. RMS sitting @ around 700w.

a lot of you guys have setups with large peaks not so high rms. which is why even on stock battery some dudes are getting away with "calling it good." someone in my position with constant loads is going to want a red top starting battery with an isolated yellow top to say the least. an alternator would be the next thing.

homie don't play with in-line caps. band aides. even without a cap my system doesn't get pwn'ed, if your using more get a alt and batt capable :-P

Just bought a new 12V battery that does 1400W

I know this is ALOT more than what I need, but there's no such thing as having too much :]
