I need help

i really really need ipod support in my car. i have the regular cd player and 15 tracks at a time isnt cutting it. i love the look of the stock unit, but i dont care anymore.

i have an 06 SS n/a with the 7 speaker pioneer.

whats a good quality, head unit that will let me use my steering wheel controls and have ipod support and doesnt look that tacky?

You can just get an antenna cable inline adapter to connect your antenna cable. THis way you can keep your radio and still use your steering wheel controls....would cost about 50 bucks in parts from like Best Buy or Circuit City. A little more if you have them do it.

I don't know either...give Crutchfield a call...they have THE BEST customer service...I called them for help about something I didn't even buy from them (helping a buddy install a radio) and they had no problem helping me out...just told me if I bought it from them, I would have the mastersheet that describes the install step by step. The mastersheets are the ****! Plus they come with the dash kits and wiring connections free!

you need SWI-X for your steering wheel controls... i install them all the time in cars at our shop... but that would be if you're looking at changing your radio

you cant control the ipod from your steering wheel. You might be able to control an aftermarket deck from your steering wheel, (your gonna have to buy an expensive deck tho)

I put the Scosche FM-MOD01 Modulator from Crutchfield in my car and love it. This is the third modulator I have tried and it is the only one I would recomend. If you go htis route, you will need the cables they recomend. You could also buy a switched stereo jack and mount it in the head unit and it would look "factory".

well i recommend a pioneer headunit...

and with the SWI-X you could make your steering wheel control the ipod. you can program the steering wheel buttons to whatever you want.

yes... i dont have steering controls so i dont know how its setup on cobalts... but say you have a Volume Up button. you can program that button to go to do something different...
basically what SWI-X does with your steering controls is make them a remote. if there's a button on the remote that chages artist, track, subvolume, whatever, you can make your steering controls do that
