Install Headunit

Hey guys, just got back from circuit city (as usual i dont really trust their advice on car stereos) but I have to be sure. He said that the cobalt wiring harness is very different from most cars and would cost about 130$ to get one to connect a new headunit too, is this true? And if so where can I gat one at a decent price and what else do i need to install a new headunit in this car?

Don't listen to them. You don't need any kind of special wiring harness unless you have Onstar. They'll try to tell you it's because of the DIC display. On my brother in law's new Malibu, the DIC does display on the radio, but ours are in the dash. If you've got the base stereo like I have with no Onstar, you can use the regular old wiring harness from Crutchfield. The only thing "special" about it is that it comes with an additional red wire (switched hot) to run from the head unit to the wiper fuse. Cobalt radios do not use a switched power lead, so the stock wiring harness does not have one.
