Installed shorty antenna, reception sucks, need help

Well, I bought the 8" corvette antenna and modified it to work on my 07 and now any station more than about 30 miles away really sucks. Do any of these boosters or antenna pre-amps work? I know the length is hurting me but what about construction. Would a different antenna work better? I saw that some here have modified a honda elemet antenna ansd was wondering if that would be a better choice.

I've got a semi-shorty antenna. I had to get one cuz my stock antenna was stolen. I got it for around $10. Its shorter than stock, it starts out straight, then does a spiral for about 3-4 inches, then goes straight again. Its allright, and reception is as good as stock.

My corvette antenna works fine, but all I had to do was screw it on. How did you have to modify yours to get it to fit?

Mine is an 07 so my stud is 7mm not 6mm. So I had to drill it out and tap it. I guess maybe because its only 8 inches tall or maybe what its made of is the reason for the bad reception. I guess maybe I'll go with the 14" shorty from antennaX.

If you bought the 8" corvette antena for your 07 and you dont want to mess with it just go to the dealer and buy the 05-06 antena base and use that one. You may want th check to see if they are the same first but I bet they are. I payed 19 CAD for a new one when some kids broke mine.

Just a thought to help you 07 guy's

Yeah I had bought the short corvette antenna, but the threads were different and it wouldn't fit on my car. I went on ebay and bought an antenna from antennaX and it works great - I dont' get any probelms with reception. If you had to "modify" your antenna to make it fit you could have easily messed up the reception.
