installig an equalizer

from looking at the back of a few equalizers ive come across, is it as simple as it looks?

run the RCAs from the back of the aftermarket HU to the input on the equalizer, then run the appropriate outs to each source, i.e. sub out etc. etc.

is it that simple? I've looked at some HUs i like but the one i really want only has 1 rca out. Im looking to run an amp to my components and my sub, as well as fine tune my beats.

Am i on the right track?

yes and no. an EQ may not split one source to multiples. it may but im doubtful. Also if your going to be going from a single out to 3 you want something with a line driver in it to increase the signal. Normally hus with only one preout have crap outputs anyway
