installing line out converter

I need to put a line out converter because i didnt get a h/u...

so my questions is....

the rear speaker wires, one side is black + yellow - obviously the black is (-) and yellow is (+)

however on the other side the wires are darkish blue and baby blue... would i be right to assume darkish blue is (-)

You would be correct my friend. Dark blue is the ground and baby blue is the power. Compare the two wires to the other speaker. I mean like compare the harnesses and see which side was ground and which was power then just look at the other harness.

I ran it like you said with the dark blue as the ground, sounds fine to me.

in all gm's this is the speaker wiring code.

front doors = light positive, dark negative.
rear doors/deck = dark positive, light negative.

also considering a converter

If you steal signal from the two rear deck speakers for subs, will the original speaker lose volume/clarity or anything noticeable? In my case I will be running two separate amps, factory HU and I'll steal from both right and left rear deck speakers. Will this affect the quality of those speakers (not the subs).

I jsut used my DMM and tested the wires in the back of my car.

Back L
black (+)
yellow (-)

Back R
Dark Blue (-)
Light Blue (+)

If you test them the right way with the DMM I get a positive voltage if I switch it around I get a negative voltage. That is what I base these results on.

It will probably add a little extra "noise" to you line but not enough that it will change anything. Noise in this case being the electronical sence of the word, not like an audible noise. Just think of it as adding an extra 5 feet of wire. It doesn't do much negatively, but if you can avoid it you don't want it there.
