ipod onto h/u without aux

Hey guys.

In my 85 Grand Prix, I have a slightly older Alpine headunit. It has no auxilery input for an MP3 player. I'd like to do something about getting my new Zune to work in it. I don't have a tape player (never did, stock was only AM/FM) and I despise FM transmitters. Isn't there some way to plug a cord into the rear audio plugs to do this? Like lug it into the rear sports, then have a cable comming out from under your dash to just plug the MP3 player into? Any other options?

And can you do that cable idea on a stock cobalt MP3 headunit?

Thanks!

well you pretty much "hate" all the "easy" ways to do it, so yeah, have fun. you'll likely have to tap wires & **** to get this to work w/o one of the ways you "despise".

I've got the Griffin iTrip (fm transmitter) for my iPod and it works great... never a problem or issue and sound is excellent.

Really, I have a Belkin one and it always gets mad interferrence. I mean, I'd love the use a tape adapter, but I don't have a tape player in the cobalt or the GP.

An inline mod is where you take the antenna cable and put it into an adapter then you will need another adapter for the tip, since the GM antenna tip isn't compatable with anything else. Best Buy or Circuit City has the two things in there install dept...it will cost you about 35-40 bucks.

what he had was an actual accessory made by "ipod"... it plugged into the headphone jack, looked almost like a double a battery i think... it's been a while, going off of memory he's just getting back from overseas... receptoin was great though
