Ipods and 07 Headunits

I cant seem to find the information I am looking for in the AV forum. If this is already answered just direct me to the thread!

I have the 06 Cobalt SS/SC. I also have an ipod. So far, the only way to run the ipod is with an fm modulator. I can not stand the sound quality you get with the fm mod.

I understand that the 07 balts came with an input jack on the HU. Confirmation of this first of all?

Has anybody played their Ipod through this? Do you lose sound quality like you do with a fm mod?

If so, does the 07 HU hook up directly in the 06 balts?

I am tired of the radio repeating all day, too many commercials, I think satellite is overrated, lose signal too often around here, and I want to keep the stock look...for now at least.

Any helpful info is appreciated. And if anybody has an 07 HU they are selling let me know cause I may be in the market for one.

I can make a couple suggestions outside of knowing anything about the 07 stock unit.

First is an FM transmitter. Yea, they're not amazing, but the sound quality will surprise you if you've never tried one. I promise, its not as bad as one might imagine.

The second answer, assuming you still want to keep the stock unit, is an OEM interface. Yea, they're pretty expensive, but they hook up directly to your factory unit and can connect to aftermarket peripheral from there. The Fosgate 3sixty.1 is the best deal. They run a couple hundred on ebay. They will connecto to amps and speakers, etc. and it has an aux input, which will allow you to buy an RCA to mini cable and connect right up to the iPod.

FM Transmitter = FM Modulator...they have been called both, I use to sell them. I have also tried out a few of them, varying price ranges, and I havent found one that is worth the money I paid for it...they kill the base and usually seem to only be playing out of two speakers only.

Is there a link to the interface you mentioned? I may check that out.

Thanks for the help

From the looks of that rig you'll need aftermarket amps with it, since it has 6 RCA or high level inputs and 6 RCA which would go to an amp, not directly to speakers.

An 07 headunit WILL NOT plug into an 05 or 06. Completely differnt harnesses and antenna plugs.
In theory you could get a 06 harness (radio-to-car) and an 07 REVERSE harness (car-to-radio) and splice them together to make a 06-07 harness, but that still doesn't solve the GM antenna to Chrysler antenna adapter you would need to create, as they don't make such a thing (that I know of).
And the fact that there is no 07 harness out at all, let alone an 07 reverse harness.

Just to let you know my dell jukebox sounds great through the port, I just had to adjust the equlaizer settings on it. Now if I could just find a new antenna that fits a 2007 bolt I would be happy.

maybe you can use this

I cam across this and I thought of this thread. Its worth giving them a call and see whats up with this kit. Maybe you can splice it in, since the pinouts have been indentifed in another thread.
