This is the owners manual for the 10w1
In it they give you exact spects on how the box should be made, ported or sealed.
A copy of this will be in the box with your sub

What amp are you going to have running it

the w1 series does not handle that much power.. i would only drive it 50watts over the rms.. jl posts a range chart which is awesome. if it is in black it will void the warranty. tthe best thing to do is keep everything distortion free. jl can take a lot more then the rms if it is distortion freeee. good buy.. i think the new tw5 is sooo hot.. ill trade someone a 13w7 for one

The sub has a continuous power rating of 300 watts.
Since he will only be running 1sub the amp will be running at 4 ohms mono.
So with a 4 ohm rating of 300 watts that Alpine seems to line up perfect numbers wise.
I would not run the amp at full tilt though, 75-80 % should run that sub nice without over working the amp

BTW-You can get the polyester in the fabrics section at Walmart

yeah thats what the advisors at crutchfield said and is what i was thinking.
and do you just fill the whole box with it? and what exactly does it do?

No you don't have to fill the whole box with it , just line the back with some, you still want to let air flow.
To be honest I don't know the exact amount that should go in but from my experiance it is usually about 20% of the box, but as for an exact amount IDK
