Kenwood DNX9140 questions

My dad gave me his used Kenwood DNX9140, PAC audio SWI jack, and OS-4. BUT, all the wires are still, sorta, wired together. I dont have any install booklets because he had everything professionally installed in his Silverado.

Should I try to wing it and install everything (which would probably result in it not working)? Or install just the radio, and lose the steering controls and warning sounds?

I really dont want to spend a lot of cash and have it professionally installed... any help?

Kenwood - DNX9140

nice little gift from your dad....now what do you mean the wires are wired together? you mean he still has it wired to the harness specific for his vehicle? take a picture of the unit your dad gave you, focusing mainly on the wires that you speak of. You should be able to install this with a little bit of help, it's not that complicated and will save you a metric shitton of money.

doubtful but try plugging it in and see what happens. with that style plug the silverados and cobalts have the same pin out.... you may get lucky and it just works (minus the steering wheel controls)

the os4 is the double plug so 08-11 silverado. the cobalt isnt on the application chart for the os-4 but since they use the same plugs and the pin outs are the same theres a small chance it will work. otherwise he will need to buy the OS-311
