LED strips
LED strips
ok heres my idea...
i LOVE LOVE LOVE the way the new audis look with the LED daytime running lights

i want to do this to my car using ozniums LED strips

im planning on mounting them in the lower part of the headlights
question's are...
1)what do i need to do to wire these up to my cars electrical system?
2)how can i make these the DRL's instead of the headlights? is there a specific wire that i can cut and rewire these lights into them so they go on instead of the headlights during the day?
3) Can i make them stay on at night when the headlights come on as well?
Any input is appreciated and im hoping this will look as sick as i think it will

Your DRL(Daytime Running Lights) are not your headlights. They are the amber's.
You could tap into the power wire for your amber's (aka your turning signals), so theyd be on day/night, until you flip them off (twisting your headlights down past auto to turn off DRL's).
Wiring is simple for LED's. 2 Wires, red/black. Red = Power(Tap into your DRL's), Black = Ground(find a screw/bolt connected to your car...unscrew it...wrap the wire underneath it...and retighten.)

guys trust me please on MY car its the headlights not the ambers...im not stupid...and what the DRL's light up is irrelevant...i want the DRL's to be the LEDs ONLY...nothing else...so where would i have to wire the LED's to?
no the sensor is clear and works fine
that seems pretty straightforward....would i need any kind of fuses or relays for this or is it low voltage enough to just be a simple splice?

I know this thread is a week old, but I just spotted it while looking for a different thread, ironically.
The DRL system is a pain in the ass to mess with, because the computer controls everything. I don't think there is a DRL-only wire or something like that to make this easy. The only way that I can think of to accomplish this effect is to wire the LED strips to a wire that is hot only when the key is in the ON position. I think one of the ignition wires can be used for this, but I don't know how easy it is to get to those as I've never taken apart my dash yet. Other than that, I don't know, unless you just wired them up to a switch and turned them on manually.
On a side note, the Oznium LED strips are excellent products. I recently used some to mod my reverse lights.

just wire them off of your parking lights (or ambers)
then if you dont want them on for some reason, you can turn them off.
couldnt you also like tap a fuse thats only on when the ignition is on? thats how i have my amp, but thats not powering it lol.

Haven't bothered taking actual pics, but I have videos posted in tthis thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/my-latest-tail-light-mod-116704/
i love the look of the LED strips as well..but coming from factory like this is one thing...i think modding ur headlights like this will be creative- but ultimately look funny ...sorry...best of luck tho
Thats b/c if the '07-'08 owners are anything like me, they immediately just switch it to parking lights when they turn the car on in the daytime to avoid having the headlights on.
i posted a link for it in the OP
if done right i think it will look good...just have to figure the wiring out...i think the switched on idea will work well id just wanna put in an over ride swtich for stealth night time driving
edit: oops no link...my bad here it is
