a little modification
well ive had an idea ever since i got the balt and hopefully ill get started very soon but i got a few questions... anyway what i want to do is change out the HVAC from the stock ss/sc to the one off an ssr... and i just got my satin controls in today. Well after taking out the trim pannels i found a few things to my dismay. The SSr panel is exactly the right length to cover the entire dash but if i put the whole unit in the opening for the cd player its a lil off. Now im going to have to do quite a bit of cutting to make this work so for my first question
Should I dremmel the dash to make the Satin SSR panel fit or should i just cut it to size and glass it to make it flow better?
Now if i leave the whole panel intact i will have to cut holes for the DIC buttons and do a little fabbing to the glove box (nothing to bad) but the hvac controls will need to be on the top instead of the bottom leaving the dilema of where to put the head unit? From just lookign at it it looks like the best place would be in the middle with that oval looking piece of metal removed but i still need to measure to see how much room that leaves me for the screen... so my second question is to the people who have seen behind the head unit
Which configuration would be best in terms of hu fitment the aftermarket din hu in the middle with screen on the bottom or the hu on the bottom with the screen in the middle?
The only concern i have for either way would be if anything in the cupholders would get in the way but at this point Im not concerned yet because if i need to ill fix any problem there
Also for the people that have delt with headreast screens do you know if the sizes compaines say are for the screen itself or the whole unit? Im going to be getting an eclipse or alpine screen once i figure all this out (i may wait a while for it to heat up so its ezier to glass) but depending on which configuation i put the screen in i may have limited depth (since i will be messing with the center trim i will have more flexablity with the width and maybe heigth)
