RE is Resonant Engineering. Very good quality SQ sub.

If you are looking for something maybe a little bit cheaper than the RE, go with a Memphis M3 10" or 12" 2ohm DVC and power it with a memphis 1000D amp. Enjoy.

All the subs mentioned are good subs,
I have 2 10w3's in mine, but I have to agree with whoever posted Image Dynamics, If I could get my hands on 2 DVC 10's (12's if I had more room, but I have a kid, so I need to keep some of the trunk) I'd swap em out for the JL's. But then again I swap my subs all the time, always something better around the corner, The w6 are good , as for an amp, thats not over kill, I use 2 JBL 600.1 II one for each 10, at 4 ohms it puts out 425 watts, perfect for a w3, at 2ohm it puts out 580 which would run a w6 without being overkill, plus they are cheap, and I've played mine for long periods of time and it still stays cool to the touch
I'm not saying these are the best, infact I just one an auction on Ebay for a old school fosgate power 1100a2, when it gets here the 2 JBL's are coming out but it seem to suit your needs.

Image Dynamics makes some great subs, I have 2 IDQv2 10's and they are so smooth you forget that they are even there (not to say they arent loud, just more SQ than SPL is all) I would also be willing to sell them if someone really had their hearts set on them

Tline is a type of box. very hard to design and has to be custom made. the ones we do for RE sr and se subs are awesome but weve done quite a few flop boxes

You don't want a type x. They require about 1000watts RMS to hit hard. If you want 1 sub that can handle about 500 watts RMS, I would go with a JL 8w7. Yes, it's only 8" but it has a lot of excursion (cone travel). It will give you tight, punchy bass without being overwhelming. A 10w6 or 12w6 would also be a good option for you. I'm running a 10w6 in JL's High Output (H.O.) ported enclosure. I'm feeding it about 550watts RMS and it gives me all the bass I can handle. Here's a couple of pics:

Yup. They are reasonably priced and have a great reputation for sound quality. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s....php?page_id=4

Sorry to resurect and or threadjack but how come no one suggested the

Power Acoustik 12 inch ****? It seems to have the best stats of all the subs listed, and is very well priced?

1200w RMS

I mean, you can do 500w RMS and it will sound fine no?

also, I am looking at these subs.

Alpine Type R
JL W3
Power Acoustik ****

all 12 inch subs. I would prefer just 1.

Which would sound/bang the best?

are 2 subs really that much better then 1? I mean, i would like to save space in my trunk as I do use it frome time to time. Would 2 subs really make that much difference?

Im a fan of the REAudio SR series 12" they only need 300 watts rms but in a good box you can deliver close to 1000 watts to them without any problems

Dunno if it has been said yet, but I'd highly recommend JL audio. I personally really like the 10W3V3 in a properly sized ported box. I've had countless people that heard it and couldn't believe it was just a single 10. Even had to crack the trunk open and show a few of them :P

wow never, thought getting an amp would be so difficult.

So, lets say I go w/ the ****. What kind of amp would be best to power it?

What is the difference between 4, 2, 1 .5 ohm, and do they effect sound or just power?

Since its Dual voice coil, im a bit confused how you would need to wire it and why too. Is there a big thing of info about this?
