Not Work Safe LS,LT,SS Radio

Anyone have a radio for sale from the Cobalts? I dont want the base model. I want the ones that have the cromelooking dials. Chevy should have had ALL THE COBALTS with them and not have the gay CHEAP kind that they put in mine........ Also how would u add power windows and locks?

THanks

Ask your dealer... and you got the cheap stuff becuase you bought the cheap version... now you will end up paying more to get it aftwerwards.... maybe do more research before you buy a car again.

Its not like everyone that gets a NEW car wants to get a car thats over their budget.....I would have rather gotten the SS model, but could not for two reasons

1. Was not in stock at the GM store and was not pay for a transport fee
2. I kinda like the 4door and it was cheaper......LOL

The above comment was not said to make anyone mad

I was just saying, put an after market radio in. When I ordered my car I tried to get it with out the radio!!! Also as far as locks and windows, I would rather crank windows. How often do you here of the old crank window breaking.

Can GM dealers reset the theft protection from a used factory radio. I thought the unit reads the serial number from the cars computer (the first time it is turned on) and won't work in another car until it is reset. I'd like a better GM unit too. My Mustang was stolen twice for the Pioneer stereo in it (forgot to remove faceplate once), so I don't really want aftermarket/theft hassle again. I just want an MP3 on CD player.

The non-power windows seem way to hard to crank up/down. Hope they loosen up more.

Mine will be available soon after I receive my Cobalt. Given the build date and what i've read here about shipping times, that won't be until beg-mid June.

1. You still pay the transport fee regardless.... even if they claim to you they gave it without its just built into the profiit of the car TRUST ME

2. you can get the nicer stereo without getting the SS trim Just get the LT or whatever the ncier 4 door is

That first sentance makes no sense I dont eactly get it but if you wanted to keep a budget you should have gotten the right stuff first and not pay an arm and a leg now.

The real point of this, no matter what trim level he/she has; this person would like a diffrent radio. So the best thing would be to help out and either find a stock radio or point them in the right direction to installing some aftermarket items.

I have looked on Ebay before and the only cobalt radios I have seen are the base radios. I really like my stock system so there is no way I will be selling mine. I think their few people who have replaced their radio on this forum also had the base radio.

As for the power doors and windows. I doubt anyone has any kits avaliable, so your probably going to have to buy the parts from GM or make your own. Both probably a bit more expensive than buying it on the car already.

You going to have to wait a while before anything aftermarket for the cobalt comes out. They are still very new. So be happy with what you have for a little while at least.

Did you lease or buy? You can usually lower the payments a lot with a lease and get more car than you could normal afford to buy. Maybe you already knew that.

I don't know what you mean by "power doors" if you are talking about power locks/windows. It can be done, I had aftermarket power locks installed on my cobalt. They also said they could do windows but I haven't done it yet

I haven't seen anything you said that could be construed as "fighting words" but thanks for being concered about being nice.

I agree the base radio does look kind of dull. I don't think the pioneer model in the SS/SC looks spectacular, but it does look a lot nicer.

I am not sure of the price without the alarm. I know the place I went to was going to charge 70 dollars a door(labor and aculator). But since I was getting other stuff done they only charged me 60 a door. I got the alarm viper something, forget the model, and two doors done. It came to around 390 and some change. All you need for the doors are aculators, they said it should work on any vehicle. And I guess some kinda of modular that controls the aculators. It really is just a small box that has a rod that connect the door lock rod. Its pretty neat how it works.

My girlfriend is going to get her car done without the alarm and I think it is going to come out to around the same price.

I asked about windows, they said that is kinda expensive but I didn't get a price.

So do you get a switch installed in the doors than control the locks or strickly based on the remote? I would guess if you got it without an alarm they would put a switch in the doors right?

I would grab the switches from GM so it looks cleaner, if you're lucky you could probably grab them from the wreckers if you can find a wrecked cobalt somewhere.

mine is just through the remote. they lock after the car starts, unlock after the car stops.

only there is really a problem is if you want to get out of the car while its running, then you have to manualy unlock/lock the door

They told my girlfriend if she got just the keyless entry, it is still controlled by a remote also. You could also get a switch/buttons installed as well
