You could always run an iPod in your car - that would pretty much cover you for MP3's.

yea i was charged 50 a door for locks when i had my prestige alarm installed on my old cav, its really nice to have, however only controlled by the remote, i actually only had the drivers side door done because thats all you really need.

 

i have a base cobalt sedan, and i got the "uplevel" radio with the auto volume and chrome knobs when i went to the dealer complaining that the radio wasnt working properly. i was having problems with the base radio displaying the word "loc" and also it would not eject my cds. anyway, just tell your dealer that the radio doesnt work.....and get a free upgrade

 

Ya good luck with that...if anything they would just ship you the same one because that's what's covered under warranty unless they're crooked which is also possible. As for putting the higher model deck in your car remember the anti-theft system is going to have to be reset...read your manual it explains how it works. You can't just plug it in and go because a previously owned one will have already learned part of the VIN# and will trip the security system on it and it will become locked.

As for buying it aftermarket you'd probably be looking the same price as if you were to go to a stereo shop and put in an aftermarket deck that way...unfortunately it's a hard learned lesson on not rushing into a purchase and getting everything in the car you're looking for . I knew when I bought my LS if they couldn't find me one with everything I wanted on it I wasn't going to take it...thank god there happened to be one left meeting my criteria.

Then according to what a warranty stands for they did not warrant you for the original equipment in the vehicle and they are in the wrong...but I can't imagine it's much of a hit to GM . I'm sure you'll find shops that will do it but I wouldn't be surprised if you ask and they turn around and say no.

I think there putting in the upper level one because it works, not because there trying to give him a free upgrade....Something is wrong with the base ones (maybe not all of them) and they have problems. So the step up fixes the problems.

I am interested in a New radio for the Cobalt LS....I need the MP3 capability. I'm not sure about a aftermarket yet as the G/f (it's her car) likes the stock look.

Was that one above with the MP3?

 

I just got a new Pioneer LCD screen and deck to replace the stock head unit, mine is the upgraded version and is up for grabs and yes it has nice shiney dials on it , if interested email at shawnquait@hotmail.com The new screen looks sick
