mp3 player into a headunit...help
i have a dell dj mp3 player and i just bought an alpine cda-9805 and i just went to radio shack and bought a wire that has 2 rca cables on one side and a plug to go into the place where headphones go on an mp3 player, i hooked it up and i can just barely hear it, but while it is playing i can tune stations and turn on cds and the mp3 player is still just barely playing....its really weird......i can send pics if needed....any help is welcome.
I did this on my first install when I was 15 with a discman on a cassette deck( yes it's been like ten years) but yes the rear speakers played the cds sounds very quietly while the radio played on the front speakers. It does happen and if those are the only connections, then you will need an fm transmitter.
Crank up the volume on the MP3 player as loud as it will go... Its still using the headphone output for its signal. I do this with my iPod and Kenwood X-789 all the time, and you have to have the iPod cranked to its highest level because the volume control on the MP3 is also going to affect the volume of the stereo.
This is of course if you deck has an AUX-In and thats what you have it plugged into...

Has anyone seen if there is a second input on our amps? you might be able to run it through the stock amp if there are. Or you could buy 2 connectors with 1 male rca and 2 females and run the deck and the mp3 player straight to the amp.
