my amp.

I have this same amp except mines a 1000 watt.

Kenwood KAC-7205 2 Channel Amplifiers - Car Amplifiers at Onlinecarstereo.com

I have two kenwood subs, they are 1200 watts a piece.. this amp is only $130 and i feel like my subs could be alot louder if i had a better amp to support it.

thanks...

what would you reccomend?

Those are peak outputs. You have to look at the RMS output of the amp and the RMS rating on the subs. Also the ohm. Are the subs 2ohm or 4ohm. Are they dual voice coil or single. are you running in series or parrellel. There are many things :P

lol :P Remember, Those high numbers shown are peak. Most companies throw those up to get attention of buyers. Most cases the peak is double of the RMS (unless its a sony sub lol), RMS being the true output or true amount of watts a sub or speaker can handle. So that amp shows this as being the RMS output

170W X 2 @ 4 Ohms
250W X 2 @ 2 Ohms
500W x 1 [Bridged] @ 4 Ohms

All there is left to do is tell us the Ohm rating and voice coil (dual or single) of the subs and we can help you out. Also, If the subs can handle it, try bridging the amp, that will give you more thump. First give the specs of the subs and we'll go from there

I would go with a good rockford amp. If they are the kenwoods im thinking of they are 400rms a piece. a P500-1bd rockford fosgate amp would be more than enough for those subs, or if you ever plan on upgrading your subs maybe get a p700 or maybe even a p1000 if you plan on getting a large system eventually. If you want better quality though go with the power series rockford amps like the t1000 etc.

ya the amp is still 500w and the subs are rated at 400 so id guess they actually take more like 300 a piece.

bridging the amp blows the amp up. you need to get a mono block amp.

Ive had experiance with these subs they will handle 400rms like they say, but no more. If your running 2 a Rockford p500-1bd amp would be more then enough. A p300-1bd would work good to and be cheaper. The p300 i use to have was 491 rms at 2ohm. My last p500 was 743rms at 1ohm.

anything really thats 600-800 rms at 2 ohm

if u want kenwood then the best bet is the XR-1S (700w rms). otherwise the KAC-8105D is 500wrms, or the KAC-9105D is 900w rms
