my new amp. what is this?

what is this telephone cord looking cord go to? also my cousin who gave it to me never used it once. he claims that i will need to rewire my whole car to use this big of an amp. now, im not too sure about the rewiring of my car and getting a new alternator but... what do u guys think? is he crazy? im thinking about running 3 10s but im not sure if that will fit in the cobalt trunk. i cant measure the trunk because my car is on hte other side of town. i got the amp for 100$, good deal?

do i need it? the amp i have right now is an alpine m450 and i dnt have a bas knob like that...

No.. you can adjust it on the amp.. Its nice to have it mounted on your dash for easy adjustment ..

its an ok amp. not very clean and defiantly not 2000w rms but its will make a good 1200w rms
