my new plan, using stock HU stereo
my new plan, using stock HU stereo
I bought some stuff on Ebay...used...two Alpine amps, about 200W rms each, two 10 inch single sub boxes, with JL audio w4 subs....and a used Audiocontrol 3-way crossover that came with 4 RCA cables....trying to figure out how to use it all with my stock HU....I bought a new Clarion EQ, and some new POLK audio 6.5" component speakers for the front, and they kick assss...and new POLK 6x9's for the rear deck... I am going to use the stock HU, stock sub box, and keep the front stock speakers, use the rear HU audio out to my Clarion EQ, which will send signal to my front amp and new component speakers, the new 6x9, and the sub out to the stock amp and one of the used Alpine amps to power the sub boxes......I like that the EQ has the aux line in for my MP3 player, and a volume control, and a volume for the subs....and the EQ settings....I will have the EQ function for my polk front speakers, and rear 6x9, and the stock HU will control fade to the Clarion EQ, and the stock front speakers. I will have two sets of tweeters, and two sets of front mid-range....I put an old powered sub box in the trunk for now,... and with my new polk speakers, it already sounds pretty good. Once I add the two new subs, and get rid of the old powered sub box, it should sound great....at least by my standards... as compared to 1990 when I last installed a system in a car........haha....no DVD player or anything for me yet....maybe some day.....I basically wanted to add amp driven better quality speakers and subs...I guess when i play through my MP3 aux. jack, I will lose the stock front speakers, but no biggie....I have the Polk front speakers and they sound pretty good.... I would like to cover the doors, floor, and trunk/ rear deck, with that sound insulating material, like tar paper, and then a layer of the thin foam rubber, but will not do it yet....so, what do you guys think ??? I really want to keep the stock HU for now....
