In need of aftermarket speakers

My left front speaker went out the other day. Not sure what happen, i got the car used, so how knows what happen to it before I got it. Time to upgrade them, but I know nothing about speakers. I'm looking for a cheap pair, I don't blast my music but the fuzzy sound now is annoying. I See i need to get 6.5" speakers up front and I guess 6x9 in the back. I didn't have the pioneer speakers in it, so I guess I need some kind of adapter to make it fit. Would this work?

1) I need a cheap set of new speakers, I plan on replacing both the front and back, maybe sub woofer

2) I need some kind of adapter to make them fit in front, what about the back? Wheres the best place to get them from?

BTW I have an aftermarket Pioneer head unit.

If thats the factory speaker size there should be no adapter needed as they are quite common.

so no need for any kind of adapters for any speakers? I can go take the old ones off and screw the new ones into the same location. Can I use the same wire or would I need to rerun them?

taken from the FAQ pinned in this forum

17.) I want to replace my speakers what sizes are they and how do i do it?

All cobalts have the same speakers. 6.5" in the front door and 6X9 in the rear deck. For the cobalts with the pioneer package the speaker is just held on via 4 screws and can be replaced easily. For the non pioneer people the stock speaker is actually built into the braket that is bolted on the door. To my knowlege you cant order the ones that come in the pioneer package (that would be too easy) so you must fabricate something yourself. A piece of wood is normally what i would use. Cut to the size of the stock speaker/bracket thing with a speaker cutout.

yes those are the correct adapters for your front speakers. Some people have not used them but air will leak around the speakers and they sound worse believe me. Rear speakers dont require a bracket.

I'll have the factory pioneers up for grabs for just about nothing if you can wait a few weeks. Hell I'll have the entire pioneer system out haha, Head unit and all!
