Need help with reverse Camera....
I am wondering if anyone here has a rear view camera hooked up to the car.
just got a Kenwood rear view camera hooked up to my Pioneer Avic D3 and it doesn't seen to work when I try and put it in rear view mode. The Camera works fine when I put the car in reverse, but when I am driving or parked and try and switch to rear view mode all I get is a black screen. I played with all the settings to make sure everything was OK, checked to make sure the camera setting is on, but still no luck. I asked the installer if they hooked it up right and they said that there is 3 wires to connect, one to reverse, one to accessory and a ground. They claim that they have connected it right but still no luck. They also don't know what the problem is and said they are looking into it.
Anyone here have any idea on what could be wrong?

The guy hooked it up correctly,
but maybe not as you had wanted. (im not sure on the model of that) but the wire going to the R can be hooked up to a steady + and it should work anytime you want.
Its a safety issue, people shouldnt be looking at their rear view camera while going forward.
Kinda like the Brake wire that is taped during a DVD install can also be bypassed

Really? I thought some of the newer cars are coming out with video rear view displays because they take the mirror off the window which clears up forward vision while at the same time the rear display is a better picture of what is actually happening behind you

Well it's not a legal issue here, because Pioneer gives you the option to put the camera in rear view mode while driving. And it also says it has that option in the manual. So that is why I think it is a problem in the hook up.

I do know if you call CHP and ask them, they will tell you a LCD screen cant be on while driving.
as i said lightsout its the way its connected. I told you how to fix it, so lets stop talking about the legality of it since i was just responding as to WHY it is set up that way...
