Need Help- Subs and Amp

Looking to put subs in my 06 Cobalt SS S/C, I want to stick with all Alpine gear, more then likely Type R Subs, but im lookin to save as much trunk space as possible. Is there much of a difference between 10" and 12" Type R's? They handle the same power but the 12"s take up basically all of the trunk and the 10's won't. Also will need a Amp, thinking the MRX-M100 1000watt. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

if you do it right, you should only need one sub.

But it seems like two 10's would be fine if you guys are saying 12's hit insanely hard for our little cars. I'll try and post pictures with what I decide to do, new to the site but i'll try and figure out how to do this. Also anyone been to ZZP and had work done? Been lookin at getttin that Stage 3 upgrade kit. Anyone have any advice to gain some speed on about a $1000 budget?

I've got 1 JBL 12" in my car with a box built to spec and tuned at like 30hz (if i remember correctly) and it pounds harder than most 2 12" set ups I hear. 2 10's would be fine too but if you do it right, one only need one good 12" sub... in a cobalt anyway. Unless you're the type (like me) that likes EXCESSIVE amounts of bass. That's why I am upgrading my system right now and I'm still only going one sub at the moment, just going with a bigger badder sub. But yes, to get a good amount of bass, you're gonna take up most of the cobalt trunk.

Larger diameter speakers create larger sound waves.
