New Front Speakers

Changed out the dud front speakers this week. Alpine SPS-610C component speakers. Great sound. Tried using the Metra speaker bracket kit that was "Specifically" for the 2010 Cobalt. Bul#^@it!!! Even after hacking the bracket and removing some of the inner door plastic I couldn't get the panel tabs to click into place. Metra 82-3006 which I got the numbers from the Metra website directly. Ended up using the flat bracket that came with the speakers. Drill a couple holes and some self tapping screws and away we go. I got a pic of the stock speaker. It's the one that worked occasionally. The passenger side didn't work at all.

Rusty drivers side speaker.

If someone didn't have the bracket like I did they could do that. Fortunately I did so I was able to use them.

Like I said, couldn't get the panel to clip in place. If I didn't have the brackets that came with the speakers I would've striped out the stock ones. I dont recomend the metra ones at all.
